  • Isn't getting arrested also the same as a person being detained? And you being detained(in custody) is a sign of being guilty? Some may not think so but just the fact you are stripped of your freedom, makes a lasting impression that may impact one's reputation in the long run. i have no legal background but quite interested in other views.

    I don't know. The Police are not infallible. They, just like the rest of us, make mistakes. Sometimes the results are shockingly unfair. A case comes to mind where a man was convicted of a rape/murder in the 80's only to be exonerated 18 yrs later with DNA evidence. Not that it's funny at all, but the hair sample they used to convict him turned out to be a dog's hair.
