The Idiot-in-Chief Actually Said This

Yesterday, the Great Cult Leader toured a factory in Pennsylvania, which is making masks for health care workers who are on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19. And he gave a speech, as he always does. And this speech had as its principal subject coronavirus testing. Because we as a nation have actually stepped up our testing, so the Great Cult Leader could proclaim that the US is the greatest testing nation in the world, or something like that.

But he said one thing in particular which needs to be repeated, and then repeated again, because it defines idiocy as well as anything he has ever said. An article in Politico puts this statement in quotation marks. I am sure there is also a YouTube video of this part of his speech, because it is so incredible:

From the article in Politico:

“America has now conducted its 10 millionth test. That’s as of yesterday afternoon. Ten million tests we gave. Ten million,” Trump said from a stage at the warehouse event, which had the trappings of a campaign-style rally. “And CVS has just committed to establish up to 1,000 new coronavirus testing sites by the end of this month, and the 10 millionth will go up very, very rapidly.”

“And don’t forget, we have more cases than anybody in the world,” he added. “But why? Because we do more testing. When you test, you have a case. When you test, you find something is wrong with people. If we didn’t do any testing, we would have very few cases.”

Read it again, especially the part in boldface. He was explaining why it is that the United States has more COVID-19 cases than any other nation in the world:

"When you test, you have a case. When you test, you find something is wrong with people. If we didn’t do any testing, we would have very few cases."

Following this logic, if the United States didn't do any testing at all, we wouldn't have as many cases. Because it is the testing that gives rise to the cases, not apparently the virus.

"If we didn't do any testing, we would have very few cases."

Think about it. Idiocy defined.
