Chuuk Public Radio Station Off the Air
Since the beginning of the pandemic couple months ago, the only public radio station (V6AK) has been off the air while the employees still getting paid every two weeks. Now, the government is borrowing the private Baptist radio station to announce information for the general public in which only people on Weno and islands in the lagoon could hear. What happen if a major disaster like typhoon hits Chuuk, how would the outer islands know? I heard that mechanical problem with the radio station is very minor but the State could not afford to purchase the parts, while they could afford to pay for the biweekly salaries of the employees who just sit around, drink coffee and tell jokes. Hope the new administration will do something about this.
